Slack
Team chat — and the channel my AI agents report into. Slack is where I talk to clients and to my admin Christine, and where agents post updates so I can manage them like a team.
The AIE Angle
Why Slack made the cut
Slack is the office. That sounds obvious for human teams — it is where I talk to my consulting clients, where my admin Christine and I run the AIE Network day to day — but the part people miss is that it is also where my AI agents check in. Every agent I run can post to Slack. When a newsletter draft is staged, when a website fix is deployed, when something needs my eyes, the agent drops a message in a channel. I do not go hunting through chat transcripts or dashboards — the updates come to me, in the same place my humans already are. If you take seriously that AI agents are entry-level employees, then Slack is their standup: they report status, and I manage exceptions. The mechanics are well-worn — channels, threads, huddles, search — plus an API and MCP server mature enough that agents can both post and read. Slack Connect lets me share channels directly with clients without anyone managing a guest account. It is not the flashiest tool in this toolbox. It is the one everything else reports into.

5 Ways To Use It
Slack for business
- 1
Give every AI agent a channel to post into — drafts staged, deploys finished, exceptions that need a human — so updates come to you instead of you hunting for them.
- 2
Run client communication through Slack Connect, sharing channels directly without managing guest accounts.
- 3
Coordinate day-to-day work with your admin and team in threaded channels instead of email.
- 4
Wire alerts from other tools — Vercel deploys, form submissions, monitoring — into Slack via integrations and webhooks.
- 5
Let agents read channel history through the Slack API or MCP server to pick up context before acting.
Common Questions
Slack FAQ
The questions business professionals most often ask about Slack.
Can AI agents post to Slack?+
Yes. Slack has a mature API and an MCP server, so AI agents can post messages, reply in threads, and read channel history. That makes Slack a natural status board for an agent team — agents report their work into channels and you manage by exception.
What is Slack Connect?+
Slack Connect lets you share a channel directly with people outside your organization — clients, partners, vendors — so you collaborate in Slack without email or managing guest accounts. It is how a lot of consulting and client work runs day to day.
What are Slack huddles?+
Huddles are lightweight audio and video calls you start inside a channel or direct message with one click — no scheduling, no meeting link. They are good for a quick question that would otherwise turn into a long thread.
Slack or Microsoft Teams?+
Teams wins if you are already deep in Microsoft 365 and want bundled video and Office integration. Slack wins on third-party integrations, developer API quality, and as a hub that other tools and AI agents report into. For an agent-driven workflow, Slack's API and MCP maturity are the deciding factor.
