NVIDIA PAIR

NVIDIA Personal AI Router (PAIR) is a free, open source router that turns the computers on your local network into one place to send AI requests. It finds the machines, installs Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp on them, and sends each request to whichever paired machine can serve it.

The AIE Angle

Why NVIDIA PAIR made the cut

Most offices have more GPU sitting idle than they realize: a gaming PC in the corner, a Mac Studio on someone's desk, a Linux box under a bench. PAIR, which NVIDIA shipped as version 1.0 on October 13, 2026 after a short beta, lets those machines serve local models together without anyone writing configuration. You install it on each computer, pair them with a six-digit PIN, and from then on the applications on your machine talk to a local address on that machine that looks like the Ollama, OpenAI or Anthropic API they already speak. That endpoint is loopback only: it answers the computer it runs on and refuses requests from elsewhere on the network, so the pattern is to install PAIR where you work, which need not have a GPU of its own, and let it route to the machines that do. PAIR picks a machine for each request based on which engine and model it holds and how busy it is, and encrypts the traffic between nodes. Be clear about what it is not: it routes each request to one machine. It does not pool memory or split a model across computers, so a model still needs one node that can load it on its own; for that job look at Mesh LLM. Where PAIR earns its place is concurrency. A team running several agents at once, or a multi-agent application, gets more throughput from hardware it already owns while prompts and answers stay on the local network. It runs on Windows 11, Linux and macOS, including Apple silicon, installs the engines for you, and can adopt Ollama and LM Studio installs you already have. Apache 2.0 licensed, with no account required.

5 Ways To Use It

NVIDIA PAIR for business

  1. 1

Run several coding or research agents at once against local models spread across the PCs you already own.

  2. 2

Let each person on a small team run PAIR on their own machine and reach the group's GPUs through a local Ollama, OpenAI or Anthropic-style endpoint, without buying a GPU server.

  3. 3

Keep prompts and answers on the office network for work that cannot go to a cloud provider.

  4. 4

Install Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp from inside PAIR on each node instead of setting every engine up by hand.

Common Questions

NVIDIA PAIR FAQ

The questions business professionals most often ask about NVIDIA PAIR.

What is NVIDIA PAIR?+

NVIDIA Personal AI Router (PAIR) is a free, open source desktop application that discovers computers on your local network, pairs them, installs a local inference engine on each, and routes each AI request to a machine that can serve it. Version 1.0 shipped on October 13, 2026.

Does PAIR combine the GPUs or memory of several computers?+

No. PAIR sends each request to one node and does not pool GPU memory, shard a model across machines, or split a single request between nodes. A model must fit on at least one paired computer. Mesh LLM is the project to look at if you need to split a model across machines.

What does PAIR run on?+

Windows 11, Linux and macOS, on both x64 and Arm processors, and the three can be paired with each other. It installs and manages Ollama, LM Studio and llama.cpp, though each engine and model has its own hardware requirements that PAIR does not change. The endpoint PAIR presents is local to the machine running it, and PAIR itself is updated on each machine separately.

Is PAIR free?+

Yes. PAIR is released under the Apache 2.0 license, with signed installers on GitHub for Windows, Debian-based Linux and macOS. There is no account, subscription or NVIDIA hardware requirement to run the router itself.
